History
NEPA Trital was established in 1978 by businessman José Natalino Gonçalves. In it’s first wear it’s main business was harvesting and selling carob pods. In the second year, through the acquisition and installation of appropriate machinery, it extended its business to the processing and grinding of carob.
Initially, the factory had the capacity of processing close to 2500 kg of carob an hour. Fifteen years later, in 1993, it increased its facility to 2,400 m2, acquired more machinery, and the processing capacity was increased to 7500 kg / hour. The factory also increased and improvement its storage facilities for carob pods and processed products (Coarse Grind, Fine Grind and seeds).
The acquisition of the carob happens primarily by direct sale by the producers but also occurs through retailers and producers' organizations.
The sub products (Coarse Grind, Fine Grind and seeds) are sold to ration mills. Seeds are sold to gum producing factories.
